There are many great options for exploring the outdoors near Birch Harbor! Here are a few of our favorites. Schoodic Peninsula: Winter Harbor is home to a lesser-known portion of Acadia National Park called the Schoodic Peninsula. It's a gorgeous drive or bike ride around Schoodic with many stops along the way for views like Raven's Nest, Little Moose, and Schoodic Point. If you want to hike, the main trail is called the Anvil Trail. There are also great walks such as the Sundew Trail and the Lower Harbor Trail. You'll need an Acadia Park pass to avoid getting a ticket when you park! Rent Bikes & Kayaks: Sea Schoodic Freshwater Swimming: Jones Pond Golfing: Grindstone Neck Golf Course (Public) If you want to go to Mount Dessert Island (home of the majority of Acadia National Park) for the day, you can drive over (about 1 hour) or take a ferry (about 45 minutes) from Winter Harbor (search "Downeast Windjammer Cruises" to book tickets).
