We are so excited to be getting married in Maine. Alice grew up going to Winter Harbor and Sam grew up going to Long Pond near Southwest Harbor. Knowing that only Frenchman's Bay had separated us for most of our lives, it was obvious that Downeast Maine was where we should get married. We know that it will be a long trip for some, but we cannot wait to share our favorite place with you and hope that you'll love it as much as we do. Thank you advance for making the trek!
Correct! We are getting a portable sauna and cold plunge delivered to the venue for the wedding weekend. It will be available for use throughout the weekend and we will post a schedule with more information when we get closer to the wedding date. If you choose to use the sauna you'll be asked to sign a waiver, per our contract with the company providing it.
Please see the "Travel and Accommodations" page for transportation details.
We won't deny that the location of our wedding is a bit remote. Here are a few things to keep in mind before you travel... - There is one small, central grocery store in the area - Winter Harbor Provisions. It closes at 7 pm Monday - Saturday and at 4 pm on Sundays. - Similarly, restaurants tend to close early. Late night fare is not in the cards. - There are no Ubers in the area. See our "Accommodations" page for details and recommendations. - The closest gas station to Winter Harbor, Birch Harbor, and Prospect Harbor is MC's Marketplace, which closes at 7 pm. The second closest gas station is a Shell Station on Route 1 (9 miles/a 15-minute drive away). - If you need to get anything last minute (e.g. forgot your shoes, need a larger pharmacy) you'll have to drive to the nearest city, Ellsworth (it's about 45 minutes from Winter Harbor).
