We're very excited to celebrate with you! Get ready for dancing, good food, spending time in the woods, and maybe a lawn game or two. We can't wait!
Our story begins with a banana split. It was November 14th of 2015, Ali had just moved to Crown Heights (a neighborhood in Brooklyn) three weeks prior and was craving some ice cream. At the time Crown Heights had very few ice cream options on a Saturday night, but thanks to google, Ali was able to find a place called Butter and Scotch. If the name doesn't give it away, Butter and Scotch was a bakery/bar. Ali wanted ice cream so badly, she made the journey alone. Ali hopped on a bar stool and grabbed a menu. Ali realized the best ice cream option was a Banana Split. She orders it and a few minutes later Augie walks in with his roommate Cecilia. The two of them sit down one barstool down from Ali. Turns out, Augie lived right above the bakery/bar and was just looking to grab a drink with a friend after an exhausting Saturday. Ali's Banana Split arrives and it turns out it was the size of her head. Ali turns to Augie and his roommate and offers to share with them. She was holding out a dripping spoon of vanilla ice cream. Augie, despite wanting the ice cream, thought it may be best not to eat ice cream from a stranger. The three of them got to chatting, but after a while, Cecilia left to catch a movie (oddly enough, she saw the movie Brooklyn). Ali and Augie were alone and after chatting for hours and a little bar hopping, the two really hit it off as friends. Since they live within walking distance of each other, they saw each other frequently that month. They both knew there might be something more to pursue, so they went ice skating together on a date. The rest is history!
