The Before Times

2011-2012

In 2011 Ali was asked to Homecoming by one of Ricco's friends, and they ended up going in the same group. They later found out that they'd gone to the same elementary school, enrolled in the same 8th-grade social studies class, and shared friends (some of which are guests at the wedding!), yet don't remember meeting each other. Ali then moved across the street from Ricco, where they'd catch the bus together (Ali often trying to hold the bus while Ricco ran towards it late in the morning), and Ricco would wait after school to walk Ali home (even if it meant waiting over an hour for her to finish work). At first, Ricco was skeptical of Ali (he claims "she was too nice to me") and Ali thought Ricco secretly hated her. A friendship developed over fierce Tetris competitions, a mutual love of cartoons and oldies music, and making fun of each other while watching ducks at the park. A year later in 2012, watching ducks yet again, Ricco finally asked Ali out.

The Proposal

2021

After four years of long-distance followed by three years of living in Seattle, Ricco proposed. While walking through the park they turned a corner to see Lumi come running across the bridge, managing to make it both undistracted and with the ring securely tied around her neck. A proud moment for everyone involved, especially Lumi, who looked over beaming as Ali said yes.
