Short Pump
Right around the corner from the ALoft Hotel is Short Pump Village. You will find suburban sprawl at its peak with an outdoor mall of chain retailers, boutiques, restaurants, and more. This is a convenient place to explore near your lodging, but will not exceed expectations. Recommendations: SweetFrog, AMC, and Escape Room.
The Fan, Scott's Addition, and Monument Avenue
Uptown Richmond offers the distinct Richmond culture and is a 15 minute drive from our preferred lodging. This hip and happening part of town is filled with local breweries, artisanal fusion restaurants, museums, and live music. Street parking is often available. Recommendations: - Virginia Museum of Fine Arts exhibits and lawn for lunch - Richmond Beer Trail with 30+ options, favorites include Ardent, Veil, Starr Hill, and Vasen - Local coffee shop or restaurant for causal dining
Belle Isle, Brown's Island, Civil War Museum
Downtown Richmond has some additional breweries but it's main appeal is Belle Isle. This nature lover's oasis gives Presque Isle a run for its money. Both islands are situated in over Richmond's James River home to many exciting rock and water features including the Class 5 Hollywood Rapids. A scenic walk over the suspension bridge into the easy trails can be completed in under an hour round trip and would make for a great morning. Convenient parking located in front of the Civil War Museum which can also fill a history fan's delight.
