Pro Tip - the Fried chicken sandwich is excellent.
A bit out of the way but excellent noodles, curries (the Lychee one is unique), and other Thai dishes.
Fantastic fusion Korean BBQ spot. We recommend the bulgogi burrito, kalbi cheeseburger, philly cheesesteak, or honestly anything else on the menu.
Same location as Mama Cho's and one of Andrew's go to poke spots while living in San Leandro.
Great brunch and the sausage sandwiches also make for an excellent meal. Large selection of cocktails and beers with an emphasis on German brews.
Shrimp tacos. Usually only open in the evenings. Best Mexican food in the Bay (in the world?)
SPICY. And delicious! We recommend the cumin lamb, fried fish in the wooden boat, and chili oil wontons.
Best biscuits in Oakland.
Nice place for Korean Fried Chicken (KFC) and Jajangmyeon. The jajangmyeon at Yuyu Za Zang is also excellent. For bonus points, try both and let us know which you like better!
One of the best ramen spots in Oakland. If you want really good ramen, leave Oakland for San Mateo and check out Ramen Dojo or Ramen Parlor.
The breakfast pizza they have for brunch is fantastic.
Beer is decent. View is incredible.
Great cocktails and a nice outdoor seating area.
Loud and crowded, but great drinks and a fun vibe if you don't mind a lot of people
Come for the beer, stay for the pizza and vibes. Located in uptown near lots of other bars, restaurants, and dessert spots (Humphrey Slocombe Ice cream and the "secret breakfast" is a tasty treat).
We recommend the Sangria if they have it!
You can usually get Russian River Brewing beers here.
A great spot for drinks on a warm summer day!
Nice place to go on a walk or relax. Right by downtown.
One of Ali's favorite spots to appreciate and learn about California's natural beauty.
Waterfront views, restaurants, wineries, and a Sunday morning farmers market
A beautiful national park but you will need to make a reservation at gomuirwoods.com to ensure a parking spot.
Located near downtown and always has great exhibits. On Friday nights they have food trucks, drinks, and dancing!
One of our favorite parks to visit when Ali lived in San Francisco. Includes the DeYoung Museum, Conservatory of Flowers, California Academy of Sciences, rose garden, and other attractions.
One of Andrew's favorite hikes; a less crowded option.
Black owned bookstore and Oakland staple. Lots of radical reads.
