For some of you, this may be the first Asian/Vietnamese/Laotian wedding you're attending. It's customary to wish the newly weds good fortune with a monetary gift. This usually comes in the form of a red envelope called "li xi". You may have seen them during Lunar New Year celebrations. Though it could also be a normal letter envelope, with/or without a card wishing them well. As long it's filled with some "loot, flow, coin, cash, notes" you're good to go! This helps alleviate the financial stress for the wedding itself. Thank you!
