Thanks to Covid, you can take your sweet time! We have to lock our complete guest count by OCTOBER 5th, 2021 but as much notice as we can get on a head count is very helpful for the planning process. We are requesting that everyone get their RSVP in by AUGUST 5, so we have plenty of time to speak with our vendors. If you plan on coming, but you are waiting on booking your flights, we highly recommend to start looking into your hotel arrangements and book those first. Some hotels have deals here and there, but they tend to have the best deals early on, so booking hotel first and waiting for flight prices to drop is a safe way to go. We also recommend the app Hopper, which watches flights and notifies you when the best time to buy is.
Please start looking at hotel arrangements right away! November is high wedding season in Tulum and rooms are already booking up quickly! Most of the bridal party will be staying at our hotel block at Hotel Nueva Vida De Ramiro. We highly recommend looking through the many hotel options in Tulum. Just be sure to do your research on location (details in the Travel section of this website) before booking. You will be mostly walking everywhere while you are here and proximity will definitely make things more enjoyable!
Think "beach wedding"! Anything from slacks and a linen shirt to a maxi dress or a summer dress. Whatever you are comfortable in that makes you feel your best :) The wedding ceremony as well as the reception will be held on the sand with a place to store your shoes, so we recommend planning on being barefoot.
Warm and balmy! November in Tulum is not as hot as summer in Tulum. Expect to be in shorts and a t shirt or a light dress most of the time. Bring a hat and plenty of sunscreen if you are sensitive to the sun. Otherwise enjoy being warm 24/7!
Tulum is one of our favorite places in the world (so far), so naturally we recommend staying for as long as you can! The wedding is being held on Friday, November 5th, so some of us are planning to fly out of LAX on Wednesday, the 3rd and stay a total of 5 nights, leaving on Sunday the 7th. Others are planning a longer trip which would arrive on the 3rd and depart on the 10th. You are welcome to come and go according to your own preference or schedule, as long as you are there for the big day! Just keep in mind the time change as it is a full day of travel to arrive in Tulum.
Besides your wedding guest outfit you should consider what you would bring to a sunny vacation in the Caribbean! Bikinis, hats, sandals, sunglasses, bug spray- the usual. When considering sunscreen please try to only buy Reef Safe brands- meaning mineral based and not chemical based. The labels should be easy to pick out and they are available in most places that sell sunscreen, or Amazon! If you plan to visit any Cenotes while you are here, Tulum requires Reef Safe sunscreen or no sunscreen at all (they are mostly shaded so sunscreen isn't needed) as the ecosystems are extremely fragile and lotions, sunscreens, hairsprays, etc. can damage them. Some places even require you to shower before getting in the water, so just keep that in mind :)
Yes, the water, vegetables, and ice in the city is safe. Tulum is a pretty popular tourist town, so they do a great job of making sure that everyone remains healthy. The water in all the hotels and restaurants is bottled in glass and imported, and the water that comes from the sinks is all filtered and clean :)
Yes, Tulum is a very safe place! You will see lots of bachelorette parties traveling alone, lots of newly engaged women flaunting large engagement rings, and a whole lot of young stylish single travelers. In the 8 days that we were there we never felt unsafe or uncomfortable, so we are excited to share this amazing experience with you all!
We are organizing this now. We will have a car service set up to pick up people from the airport to take them to and from Tulum. Since we can only book so many cars for so many times a day- we ask that you try to book early flights on the 3rd (arriving around 5 pm local time) and mid afternoon flights on the 7th and 10th. The Sprinters that we are looking to rent fit about 10 people, so we would try to have several vans set for pick up and drop off to and from the airport for the main flights. This will be updated shortly!
Once you are in Tulum you are pretty much set to go! It is very small so walking is the main form of transportation. However, there are some very cool things to do just outside of Tulum- like diving or snorkeling in Cenotes- which require either a taxi or renting a scooter. Taxis can get expensive so if you have your motorcycle license be sure to bring it!
Most of the hotels and activities in Tulum are adult only. If you plan to stay in Tulum we recommend that you try to find a relative to take the little ones for the time that you are away! Based on our experience traveling there, it is suited for an adult vacation away from home. That being said- we love your kids and we would be happy to have them at our wedding!
