Gap Creek Coffee House
Gap Creek Coffee House offers great coffee, tea, and sandwiches in a cozy spot by the creek. Sitting outside is peaceful and charming. Don’t miss Xander’s favorite — the blackberry jam grilled cheese!
Cumberland Gap National Historical Park
Explore Cumberland Gap National Historical Park, the historic gateway for early settlers. The visitor center has neat free exhibits and historical film. Enjoy hikes for all skill levels, from light walks to rugged treks. Don’t miss Pinnacle Overlook—a short, paved walk (approximately 200 yards) to stunning views and the spot of our first kiss.
Abraham Lincoln Library and Museum
Visit the Lincoln Museum at LMU in Harrogate, just minutes from the Gap. Explore an impressive collection of Civil War artifacts and Lincoln family items. The campus is beautiful—worth a stroll after diving into this rich piece of history.
Wilderness Road State Park
Wilderness Road State Park features a museum, 1870s mansion, and over 8 miles of trails once traveled by Daniel Boone. During our wedding weekend, Martin’s Station Encampment will be open and the Wilderness Road Heritage Festival will be happening —don’t miss it!
Chained Rock Hike
Chained Rock in Pineville offers a moderately challenging 0.9-mile hike leading to a massive boulder secured by a 101-foot chain—a unique photo op. Enjoy panoramic views of the Cumberland Mountains. Wear shoes with good traction for the uneven terrain.
