Castle of Agios Georgios

Attraction within walking distance of our brunch spot, Il Borgo Restaurant! At 300 meters above sea level, Agios Georgios was founded by the Byzantines in the 12th century, while nearly all the remaining architecture is from the start of the 16th century when the Ottoman Empire’s brief dominion was ended by the Venetians.

Argostoli Harbor

Bustling harbor in the capitol city of Kefalonia. In the summertime, particularly in the mornings, loggerhead sea turtles will make their way to the harbor!

Ithaca

In Sami, there is a car ferry available to take you across to the island of Ithaca, the home of mythological hero, Odysseus!

Zakinthos (Zante)

For those interested in a day trip to the neighboring island of Zakinthos, we found a boat tour leaving from Poros, Kefalonia (departing point is 35min drive from Sami)! Zakinthos is most famous for its Shipwreck Beach!

Mount Ainos National Park

The only national park situated on a Greek island. It is also the tallest point in Kefalonia, allowing for beautiful views of the Ionian Sea!
