We were “preschool sweethearts” — each other’s very first crush. We met in preschool at McCurdy in 2004, and as our teachers, friends, and family still recall, we were completely inseparable. Some of our earliest memories include playing on the little red playground, celebrating birthdays together, and even sharing a little kiss on the cheek at recess. Though we went to different schools from 2nd grade, we never forgot each other. Over the years, we would occasionally run into one another at piano recitals, basketball games, and track meets. Every time, those same childhood butterflies came rushing back. Our moms used to joke about setting us up one day, but as fate would have it, we found our way back to each other all on our own. During our senior year of high school, we started talking again and quickly realized that some crushes never truly fade. Conversations turned into dates, and dates turned into basketball games, track meets, two proms in one night, and eventually, two high school graduations. Through it all, our friendship, admiration, and love grew stronger. Even when we chose rival universities (go Lobos!), we never lost sight of how perfectly we complement one another, how we make each other laugh, and support each other through all of life’s ups and downs. When we were given the opportunity to move across the country so Jacob could pursue a master’s degree at Purdue University, we embraced the adventure together. We began our new life in a little apartment, building new friendships and creating a home just for the two of us. There was never a doubt in our minds that we would spend the rest of our lives side by side. So when we decided to take the next step and get engaged on December 24, 2024, it was the easiest “yes” in the world. We cannot wait for our wedding day and are beyond excited to celebrate the beginning of this next chapter with all the people we love most.
