We met the very traditional way everyone does - on the internet! After signing up for the app Coffee Meets Bagel*, we matched, Christopher initiated conversation and offered himself as a date to the wedding Alexis was attending that weekend. Unfortunately, the wedding was out of state, but we made a plan to go out a week later. Three weeks after that, we made things official (though Christopher had been trying since the second date). And the rest, as they say is history! *This is why you'll hear Alexis' friends refer to Christopher as "Bagel."
In keeping with the very traditional theme of our relationship, Christopher decided to finally pop the question during a global pandemic. Alexis' Version: Christopher told me to get ready for a quarantine date night and that it would be a double date on Zoom with his mom and stepdad. Once I finally came downstairs, Christopher was acting really weird and wouldn't let me run back upstairs to get the one strip eyelash I forgot to put on (the other was on my eye). He called his mom to let her know we were ready for our date and immediately, we heard sirens outside. Christopher grabbed my hand and pulled me outside to find a car parade with all of our friends holding signs spelling "Will You Marry Me?" He then recited something that I'm sure was really great, but honestly have no memory of. Regardless, I said yes and then we were immediately surprised by my family who drove into town to celebrate. Plus, so many of you got to watch on Zoom, Chris Harrison sent us his best and we ended up on the news! Christopher set the bar quite high for all life events moving forward, but this day will always be my favorite. Chris' Version: The day I asked wouldn't have been possible without the strategic planning of our close friends. I was really nervous for the day, not because I wasn't sure if I wanted to marry my best friend, but because I wanted the day to be perfect for her. I asked her to go get ready for a Zoom date with my mother and stepfather. As she was getting ready, I nervously made sure all the blinds were closed and everything was in order. She came down the stairs as I told her to hurry! She was confused on why I was being so strange about the time. Next thing you know, we hear the police sirens (start of the engagement parade) coming down the street. I noticed she was even more confused and now concerned. I brought her outside and got on one knee. To this day, both Alexis and I do not know what I said as we were too excited about what was going on around us.
