Things To Do

The Wedding Website of Alexis Maria Everett and Aaron Caleb Moore
We’re so excited to share a few of our favorite places in the area with you.
Melanies Food Fantasy

Melanies Food Fantasy

664 W King ST, Boone, NC 28607

Since 1991, Melanie's Food Fantasy has operated as a meeting place for great food, conversation, and atmosphere. Alexis has spent many mornings eating breakfast here with her ski team friends. While the bride is getting ready, you can enjoy a cup of coffee before heading out for a hike to burn off the delicious mushroom gravy you've just consumed.

Come Back Shack

1521 Blowing Rock Road, Boone, NC 28607
, (828) 264-2797

GUYS!!!! This is my most favorite restaurant ever. All of my friends know I'm really not a red meat eater. However, I went to this place three times in one weekend... it's just that good. Please do me and yourself a favor and dip your fries in come back sauce. Free drinks at the wedding to all that have been to Come Back Shack. Just kidding, we all know it's an Open Bar.

Boone Bagelry

Boone Bagelry

516 W King Street, Boone, NC 28607

If they didn't want to sit down for a bite, ski team would pop in for a famous bagelious. While here you can glimpse into college Alexis' life, as she lived next door for three years.

Proper

Proper

142 Water St, Boone, NC 28607

Proper is preserving a way of life: a homage to a Southern upbringing. It used to be the old sheriff's office and jail in Boone. Everyone also ate here after Alexis' Graduation, so you know it meets a standard.

Our Daily Bread

627 West King Street, Boone, NC 28607
, (828) 264-0173

While you’re spending the day in Boone, stop by Our Daily Bread for delicious sandwiches, salads and soups. If the line is out the door, don’t worry! It moves quickly and the Smoked Ham Brie Croissant is 100% worth the wait. After you grab lunch, head across the street to Mast General Store to pick your favorite candies for dessert!

Rough Ridge

Rough Ridge

3218 Blue Ridge Pkwy, Linville, NC 28646

This hike may seem a little out of the way; however, everyone needs to ride on this portion of the Blue Ridge Parkway. This relatively easy hike is 1.2 miles up and back. Rough Ridge offers some of the most amazing views including the famous Linn Cove Viaduct on the Blue Ridge Parkway. Alexis first did this hike when she was three... someone's got brave parents. This ledge is what inspired the Lion King. Just kidding; however, the photo is of Alexis and Tucker.

The Appalachian Mountain Brewery

163 Boone Creek Drive, Boone, NC 28607
, (828) 263-1111

"Drink Local" at Appalachian Mountain Brewery located in Boone. Their award-winning beers and ciders are sure to impress! Living in the land of the long leaf pine, try a taste of the Long Leaf IPA. Go hang out in the tasting room or outdoor seating area near Boone Creek and play cornhole and listen to live music. AMB is an excellent way to finish a hike, ya know if you're into that sort of thing.

Mast General Store Boone

630 West King Street, Boone, NC 28607
, (828) 262-0000

The original Mast General Store is located in Valle Crucis (about 30 minutes from Blowing Rock) but there's a closer store in Boone. Step back in time when you visit the store, recognized by the National Register of Historic Places as one of the best remaining examples of an old country general store. The original Mast General Store was opened in 1883. Today, it is home to a collection of clothing, outdoor gear, and (our favorite) an endless collection of candy.

Foggy Rock Eatery & Pub

8180 Valley Boulevard, Blowing Rock, NC 28605
, (828) 295-7262

Foggy Rock is an amazing restaurant for lunch or dinner. It is close to the venue and most of the hotels. Tell Yvonne, the owner, that The Everetts' sent you!

Blowing Rock Ale House

Blowing Rock Ale House

152 Sunset Drive, Blowing Rock, NC 28605

"Drink local" at Blowing Rock Ale House located near Downtown Blowing Rock, owned by one of the Everett's family friends. The Ale House is close to the venue, a wonderful way to end a hike and to grab a great lunch.

The Village Cafe

The Village Cafe

1105 Main Street, Blowing Rock, NC 28605

The Village Cafe is a hidden gem, literally hidden, in downtown Blowing Rock, near many of the suggested hotels. If you park by Kilwin's (we know you'll stop by after brunch) walk down the narrow pathway beside the ice cream shop through the secret garden. Anne, the owner, will seat you. When you call for reservations just say The Everetts' sent you!

Kilwin's Chocolates

1103 Main Street, Blowing Rock, NC 28605
, (828) 295-3088

Located in downtown Blowing Rock, this sweet shop is the perfect stop for a warm day. We would recommend sampling their homemade fudge, watching them make a few treats, and then grabbing a scoop of ice cream.

Bass Lake

Bass Lake

Bass Lake Drive, Blowing Rock, NC 28605

This flat, easy 0.9 mile walking trail is a beautiful and relaxing outdoor activity for all skill levels. The main loop is around Bass Lake but, if you’re up for a bit of a challenge, start your hike here up to the historic Moses H. Cone Manor.

Beacon Heights Trail

Beacon Heights Trail

Beacon Heights Trail Mile post 305, NC 28646

Beacon Heights is an easy hike 0.8 miles out and back. It offers expansive views of the Blue ridge mountains for very little work. The above photo is of Alexis and Caleb at the top.

Grandfather Mountain

NC 28646

It seems like there are endless things to do at Grandfather Mountain. A true landmark of a pioneering spirit, the Mile High Swinging Bridge welcomes all visitors to admire 360-degree panoramic views from Grandfather Mountain. Grandfather Mountain has 11 trails varying in difficulty from a gentle walk in the woods to a rigorous trek across rugged peaks. Download the Grandfather Mountain Trail Map beforehand. Visit the seven Environmental Habitats to see cougars, white-tailed deer, black bears, bald eagles and river otters. There’s also a nature museum and a fudge shop!
