While at Emily and Josh Lord's Bachelor/ Bachelorette weekend in Atlanta, some of the bridal party were tailgating in the back of a truck before the Braves game (how southern). Hannah Goodson saw a bracelet on Caleb's arm and asked what it was. Alexis said, "What? You don't know what that is..." To which Caleb responded skeptically, "You do?!" The confident nerd in Alexis responded, "It's Elvish, from Lord of the Rings". Multiple heads turned in surprise and Caleb's lower jaw dropped to the truck bed. And that's when he proposed.... just kidding... Alexis made him wait many more years.
Caleb has been wanting to marry Alexis for awhile. For several years now, he has been casually mentioning it only to get nervous laughter in response. However, he eventually got her to go look at rings. After driving Alexis to the store and her reluctantly getting out of the car, he began to get excited. But Caleb knew just the perfect ring was not enough, he had to have a special place to propose as well. Alexis and Caleb had a trip out west planned with two of their friends, Josh and Emily. Caleb knew it would happen during this trip (though unbeknownst to him, so did Alexis). Although Caleb had planned on waiting several days into the trip, the nervousness and excitement were much more than he was prepared to handle. As one of their first stops was Grand Tetons National Park, he decided to propose there. Both Alexis and Caleb love the mountains and it was too perfect an opportunity. After hiking a mile or so and trying to find the best spot, Caleb finally found it: Jenny Lake. He was so scared to ask and honestly still has no idea what he said to her. The only thing he does remember is that she laughingly said "YES!", and all he could think was "FINALLY!" The Grand Tetons will forever hold a special place in Alexis' and Caleb's hearts. Caleb only hopes their love for each other will be as vast as this magnificent Rocky Mountain Range. As Alexis says, Caleb gave her a "Rock in the Rockies."
