It all began with a swipe, a spark, and a glass of wine. Lexi and Alex were swiping through Hinge, mostly out of curiosity, partially out of boredom, and definitely not expecting much. A viral video of Lexi and her iconic Jenga move was displayed on her profile and it caught Alex’s attention. They matched and quickly decided they wanted to skip the small talk and meet in person the next day. Lexi picked the spot — an intimate Italian wine bar called Veloce. The bar was cute, dimly-lit and home to two pet fish named Aperol and Spritz. There was also a vintage Vespa parked inside as quite an aesthetic piece of decor. Unbeknownst to her, Lexi had just accidentally chosen Alex’s dream date location. The man loves Italy. The food, the language, the tiny vehicles. They drank wine, talked about nothing and everything, and discovered they had a special connection beyond a shared Italian heritage. One date became two, and then three. And then… the world stopped. Alex made his way over to Lexi’s studio apartment in Jersey City to quarantine “just for two weeks” they thought. He arrived with 2 outfits, 2 pairs of boxers, a toothbrush and nothing more. Lexi’s dog, Bruno, quickly approved of this new man living in his house, singing Italian songs to him and feeding him parmesan. Alex, Lexi and Bruno have lived happily together ever since. There were no grand gestures. Just banana bread, lots of espresso, couch cuddles and realizing they never wanted to live without each other. Fast forward 5 years - Alex and Lexi are married and bought a house together in Buffalo, NY which is where they store their very own Vespa. Cheers to Italy, vino, Vespas and fate.
