We met the night before Alexia graduated from her undergrad at Michigan State University. Alexia invited friends out to celebrate and since Lonnie was just returning from deployment, her godbrother Terence decided to invite Lonnie to tag along. At the beginning of the night, we instantly felt a connection and it was love at first sight. We've been inseparable ever since.
Lonnie decided to propose, while on a couples trip in Phoenix, Arizona. The "guys" told us that it was a surprise for the "girls" and we needed to stay upstairs to get dressed for the night ahead. After the guys decorated and set up, they came upstairs and blindfolded all of the girls. After I was blindfolded, they all took off theirs and Lonnie guided me downstairs through rose petals to the sound of some Johnny Gill (My, My, My). He then told me to take off my blindfold for us to be standing in the middle of rose petals shaped like a heart. I was so shocked and surprised I cried like a baby, as I said YES! Lonnie set up a beautiful entrance with rose petals, large balloons spelling out marry me, along with confetti. The proposal was such a dream and we can't wait to celebrate our next chapter with all of you!
