Mehndi and Welcome Dinner

6:00 pm - 10:00 pm

Want to get mehndi (henna) on your hands to get in the wedding week spirit? Then come join us! Even if you're not planning to get mehndi, you are welcome to this casual hang out to meet other guests. This is a co-ed event. We'll have dinner food and drinks.

Attire: This is a casual, less-formal event. You can wear Indian clothes / bright colors if you'd like, a dress if you'd like, jeans if you'd like- whatever makes you comfortable! For Indian attire, guests will likely wear Salwar Kameez and dressy sandals or flats. If you’re planning to get mehndi applied, make sure you’re not wearing long sleeves.

Pithi

6:00 pm - 11:00 pm

This is the big Indian event of the wedding celebrations. Alex and Zubair will receive blessings from family and friends and we will all celebrate with Chicago’s most famous food and lots of dancing.

Attire: Festive / Cocktail / Semi-formal / Dressy Casual. You are welcome to get dressed up in Indian clothing, but it's not required. Wear what makes you feel comfortable. For Indian attire, lehengas, sarees, and salwar kameez are all good options.

Wedding and Reception

3:30 pm - 11:00 pm

We will be thrilled to have you join us for the big moment of our wedding! The ceremony will be in the outdoor courtyard, accessed through the Reynold Club building. Cocktail Hour and Reception to follow.

Attire: Festive / Cocktail / Semi-formal / Dressy Casual Translation- No need to wear a tux and floor length dress. Be comfortable and ready to dance! If you want an excuse to wear your fanciest dresses and suits, go for it. Sparkly fanny packs, Where’s Waldo shirts, and Chaco sandals are acceptable. The outdoor portion will be on a hard surface (not grass), so you’ll be safe in any footwear.

Picnic at The Point

11:00 am - 4:00 pm

This is our favorite spot in Hyde Park, and so we want to share it with you. For anyone who doesn’t need to travel Sunday morning and isn’t too exhausted from the wedding week, come hang out at the park, admiring views of downtown Chicago, jumping in Lake Michigan, playing frisbee, etc.

Attire: bathing suits, athletic wear, park clothing Parking & where to go in the park: There is a pay-to-park lot just south of 55th St., at 5575 South Shore Dr. Walk underneath Lake Shore Drive to the park and follow the path up to the left. We will be on the north side.
