Alex and Riley met on a warm Summer night in Richmond. Although they were in a big group together, both were immediately awe-struck. They would later admit to finding excuses to chat to the other that night or walk a little slower in the group to magically be near one another, but it wasn't until Riley ordered four extra-spicy tacos that night at a local dive that Alex knew she couldn't let this one get away! After 24/7 chatting for a few months, Alex and Riley had their first date in Fairfax, Virginia where it was raining heavily on a stormy September night. At the end of the night, Alex nonchalantly, in full date attire, took off her sandals and walked barefoot in the masses of puddles and pouring rain- at that moment Riley knew he had someone special. Although Alex still lived in Richmond, and Riley in Northern Virginia, they made the distance work. When Alex accepted a marketing position that brought her closer to Riley, that's when the romance took off! Alex and Riley moved in together, and not long after attending a friends' ugly Christmas sweater party, where they wore matching cat sweaters, they were engaged. On December 8th, 2018, Riley took Alex to her favorite place in Virginia, Great Falls Park. They ambled down a steep hill of rocks and boulders where they found a private beach, enchanted with thousands of shells on the shore. It was then that Riley asked Alex if she wanted to be his best friend forever and she very happily said yes.
