Question

Do I need pesos?

Answer

Yes, and you will want to make sure you have some before leaving the airport. There will not be a cash machine on your way once you leave Cancun. There is now a cash exchange on the island and 2-3 cash machines that give you USD back. This can get expensive so we suggest only doing this once if possilbe. You will be able to use a credit card but sometimes the wifi goes out on the island and you will need smaller bills in pesos to pay for the taxi's and tips.

Question

Where do I stay?

Answer

You can stay anywhere you want! We have the Villas Caracol blocked off for 3 nights and reserved for Family first and then we will open to friends. They have a speical rate for us! Villas HM Palapas del Mar is 2 doors down on the beach. Los Tortugas is one of our favorite places to stay.

Question

What can I expect on the island?

Answer

Holbox is a protected island as of 1994 which is why there are no vehicles allowed in order to protect the environment and endangered species there. That being said, there is no grocery store, starbucks or resorts. Wifi, maybe. It's truely a hidden gem. Bring what you need aka bug spray, eco-friendly mineral sun block, meds and the island will provide the rest!

Question

If there are no cars, how do I get around?

Answer

Walking is cool. It's all beach baby. You can also rent a bike. If you have a need for speed you can rent a golf cart for the week or just jump in one at the city center or at your hotel. It's about $50 pesos a ride.
