It was Carnival season in New Orleans, 2016. Oliver was a busy musician and Alexandra worked in a historic hotel around the corner from all the jazz clubs on Frenchmen St. In the evenings, she would get off her shift and mosey over to the late night scene. A friend introduced us to each other outside of the infamous Blue Nile. Oliver: "She was shy and sweet with the cutest little glasses. She seemed to be searching for the next big adventure!" Alexandra: "He was kind, attentive, and he moved with intention. I remember him always regarding me with a loving curiosity." Months later, on the night of the summer solstice, we spent a whirlwind romantic night talking on Frenchmen St. until the clubs all emptied. A stranger came up to us and performed a "wedding ceremony" for us by wrapping our hands in mardi gras beads, and then we walked to the Mississippi River to watch the sun rise over the city for our "honeymoon". Alexandra went straight from there to work at 7am and even though we were both exhausted, Oliver came back with bagels to enjoy together at the front desk of the Lamothe House Hotel, where Alexandra worked. Looking back, we call that our first "date" :)
