Cocktail but with the caveat that you must account for the fact it's winter. Three tented canopy will be heated but the viewing of the fireworks will be outdoors. Layers are never a bad idea.
The wedding ceremony starts at 1pm sharp. There will be transportation shuttling our guests from the hotel to the venue but keep in mind, it's at least 15 minutes round trip. Please show up early since you'll have to walk up the pier to board the ship and then onto the main deck to where we will hold the ceremony. Remember, it's better to be earlier than show up in the middle of the ceremony. Don't be that guy(or gal).
Sorry, this is no kids wedding. The last place anyone wants kids running around is a warship.
There are two options for parking: 1. You can park at the Hilton hotel lot for $15. Tell them at the gate that you are there for the Cheuk/Mercer wedding. You can then take the provided transportation from the hotel to the battleship. 2. You can park along Clinton St. by the battleship for free! Parking is available on either side of Clinton St. between the guard shack and the VIP reserved parking lot in front of the pier.
Hotel check-in is at 3pm. You have two options: 1. You can book an extra night for the night of Dec. 30th. That way, you're already checked into the hotel as a guest the night prior and won't have to worry about checking in after we all get back(best option). 2. You can either leave your bags in your trunk or contact one of us and we might be able to leave your bags in one of our rooms upstairs until you were able to check in later that evening after the reception.
Unfortunately, no. The hotel is extremely popular due to the location on the waterfront every New Year's Eve. We were only able to secure a limited amount of rooms for the wedding block. If you find that you are unable to book at the Hilton and you still need a hotel room, we recommend the Cherry Hill hotel(formerly, known as the Crowne Plaza). It's a bit further and you will have to work out transportation to and from the venue on your own, but it's the only other option. Apologies for any inconvenience.
The venue made this easy for us to answer. Masks are optional and up to our guests. We will not begrudge anyone who chooses to or not to wear facial coverings. We also will not be checking for vaccination status. The Battleship NJ simply requires all guests to sign a Covid waiver before attending the wedding.
To celebrate our union, we will be firing off the portside 5-inch cannon!! Also, for a tax deductible donation of $500(per shot) to the Battleship NJ, any guest(s) who wishes may fire the cannon as well. Please contact us at least one month ahead of time if you intend to make a donation and shoot the cannon. We'll let them know to be ready for your shot!
We will be guided by ship personnel to an outside area to view the 6pm NYE fireworks display put on by Rivers Casino on the river. Just make sure to wear comfortable shoes for the evening since we will be going down and up metal grate stairs to get to the viewing location. Also, dress warmly!
We are gonna do the after party at the Hilton hotel lobby bar. It's a full service cash bar. Anybody who attended the wedding can come, regardless if you're staying at the Hilton or not. The lobby bar is to the left of the front desk when you arrive at the Hilton. Tentatively, 7:30pm that night until the ball drop at midnight. Come ring in the New Year with the newlyweds!
