When booking with credit card points such as Amex or Chase points you can almost always get better value by transferring the points to an airline partner and redeeming miles directly through the airline. At a minimum the Chase $0.015 per point redemption value through their portal is decent but you can usually get better than $0.02 per point by transferring. Grand Hyatt Playa del Carmen Resort

We are staying at the Grand Hyatt Playa del Carmen. There are many booking rates and options available (including all inclusive if you wish) If you are a Hyatt member also you will get a discount (Hyatt member rate standard king room $209/night). If you are NOT a Hyatt member, strongly suggest you become one - takes 2 minutes to sign up! Members get: a discounted rate so why not! We did not do a formal room block but would love our guests to stay with us if it suits them. We are arriving on Thursday May 25 and departing on Tuesday May 30.

Travel <> Cancun Airport

-- Update 2/3 -- Uber now serves the Quintana Roo area. This has lead to some controversy and the state department has put out a notice https://mx.usembassy.gov/security-alert-quintana-roo/. We are hopeful that this situation resolves before the wedding but it may be prudent to book traditional airport transfer services. When we last traveled to Playa del Carmen we booked airport travel through https://www.usa-transfers.com/. We had a good experience with them and will be booking our transfer with them again. -- end update -- Unfortunately there is not a transportation service provided by the Hyatt to take guest to and from the airport. In inquiring with the hotel, they let me know that they do have a shuttle service that carries 1-3 passengers and is $153 each way or for 4-7 passengers it is $180 each way. So if you are traveling in a group, this information could be helpful. Otherwise, there are taxi and Uber options when you arrive. Drive is ~45 minutes to Playa Del Carmen area.

Drive is ~30 minutes South of Playa del Carmen to the wedding venue at Blue Venado Seaside. Vans each hold 14 guests. Please arrive at the Grand Hyatt prior to the pickup time of 4:30 PM. Guests should arrive at the venue around ~5 PM, with the ceremony beginning promptly at 5:30 PM. If you are taking your own transportation please keep this timing in mind. There will be transportation back to your place of pickup leaving the venue at 1AM. Should guests want to leave at a different time, transportation can be arranged separately by the wedding planner (cost ~$35-$40 USD).

There are also great AirBnB options and other hotels at different price points all around the area. We found Playa Del Carmen is a great place to get the most out of your experience, with many amazing restaurants and things to do in the area (and very safe!) We stayed there recently and absolutely fell in love with the area! It is about a 45 minute drive from Cancun Airport, heading in the direction of the venue. We will have transportation to and from the venue at or near the Hyatt. If you choose to stay outside of Playa Del Carmen, you will need to organize your own transportation or make your way to the pickup/drop-off location. Also, if you want to come hang out by the Hyatt pool with us during the day, there are day rates available!
