We are excited to have you at our Wedding Reception!

We met at the Alabama themed bar, "Crimson" in Chinatown, DC circa 2017. After enjoying a little bit of some southern flair, we went to see D.C.'s not so best, Washington Wizards play at the Capital One Arena across the street (Mary Ellen had season tickets at the time). Alex endured Mary Ellen screaming for a full game and somehow wanted to continue the date, so he suggested getting taco's down the street. Mary Ellen saw that there were grasshopper tacos on the menu and dared Alex to order them, to which he did, and he still claims that they were jumping on the plate. It goes without saying that we had to have the next date, which was brunch the next day, and Alex suggested baking apple dumplings and wanted to meet Basil. Obviously the second Alex met Basil we were all pretty much smitten and have been together ever since! Spring forward to October 2018, right in the thick of a global pandemic! There was lots of uncertainty in the air, but the one thing that just made sense was our time together and how supportive we are of each other. So, on October 26, 2018, we drove from DC to Manassas, Virginia to pick up a wedding license, then drove 20 mins to Warrenton, VA to go to a little speedy chapel to get married. We celebrated afterwards at the Wegmans where we built each other a six-pack and dined on cannoli dip and chips. Our love story has continued through different seasons of life (new jobs/career changes over the past 5 years, Alex got a new car in October, we just purchased a house in April) and we know it will continue to grow and be cherished. Our initial wedding day was a simple, beautiful, meaningful day that just made sense for us, but now we want to do something simple (maybe not so much) and meaningful with you all. We look forward to having you all here in Washington D.C. for our anniversary reception!
