One jacket/hoodie At least two pairs of comfortable clothing for recreation A swim suit 1 pair of comfortable shoes 1 pair of river shoes or flip flops to get wet Your wedding outfit Some sort of bag to carry your items
In addition to the general packing list we suggest you bring the following: A hiking bag with a water pouch in the bag (we cannot stress enough having enough water) Sun glasses (polarized preferred) Solid hiking shoes or comfortable sneakers - there's still snow on some trails Extra supplies will be included in a welcome bag provided by Liz and Alex
If you plan to go into the park at all, you should have bear spray with you. You can rent bear spray at many places. BUT you CANNOT take your bear spray on the plane. It's better to either buy it there and give it to someone who needs it when you leave OR just rent it. Here's the link to rent your bear spray: https://www.goglacieroutfitters.com/bear-spray/
You need to have a Going-To-The-Sun-Road Pass. This pass is $2 per vehicle but is the only way to access Going-to-the-Sun Road. Tickets will go on sale at the end of May, 2022 for the 2022 season. I will message everyone with updates about when these tickets go on sale. The tickets last for 7 days from the date being purchased. Ex: If you buy a ticket for July 7th, 2022 it will expire on July 14th, 2022. Tickets are ONLY checked at the gate between 6am and 5pm. If you plan to be in the park before or after those times, you won't need a ticket. This is why our rehearsal dinner is at 5pm. Here is the link to get the pass: https://www.recreation.gov/timed-entry/10087086/ticket/10087087 *For anyone who does not get a ticket, Liz will personally purchase a ticket for you to save you the hassle of trying to get one.
Yes! You need a parking pass even if you're visiting the park before 6 a.m. or after 5 p.m. This pass is MUCH easier to get and can be purchased after you pick up your car rental. You'll need to purchase this pass after you pick up your car because you'll need the license plate number to actually purchase the pass. You do not need this pass to park at the wedding venue or the Air B&B. You only need it if you plan to drive your private vehicle into the park. This pass is also good for 7 days just like the park entry pass! Trust me... if you plan to drive your own vehicle into the park you HAVE to have this pass. You do not want a parking ticket from the Rangers. It's a federal fine. Here's the link to get your parking pass: https://www.recreation.gov/sitepass/74280 *Pick the 7 day Private Vehicle Pass
In July expect sunny weather with temperatures of 80-90 degrees at the base of the mountains. When elevated it will be about 70-80 degrees. Don't worry, our venue is elevated. Mornings are chilly so prepare for colder mornings. Montana is also known for wildfires. Though the wildfires will likely not effect our trip, they will cloud the sky with smoke. Sometimes the smoke is not from Montana wildfires. it could be smoke from a wildfire in surrounding states. smoke is also shown in the weather app.
