They met in college. Alex was going into his third year of school, Lexie was going into her first year. Alex was renting a house, Lexie was living in the dorms. They met one random Friday evening because Alex was rooming with a friend of Lexie's from high school. She got invited to party at their house; and luckily Lexie had a friend that loved to party and we both ran over to their house together. Upon the first meeting of Alex and Lexie, an instant friendship formed. It became a routine for them to talk at parties, joke around, and exchange stories of their lives before college. With each story, Lexie fell harder. What she didn’t know, was so did Alex. Months went by, they would text every day, spend afternoons together doing homework, and spend evenings showing each other movies or shows they love. They even had an agreement for movies they knew the other wouldn’t like; For every horror movie Alex made her watch, Lexie got to make him watch a romantic comedy, and vice versa (they still do this). As time went on, when they went to parties, Lexie would spend her night “subtly” dropping hints to Alex that she likes him. Alex was oblivious and could not believe a girl like Lexie could like a guy like him. Eventually, after a few months, the two finally decided to start dating. Their first date was eating fast food in the parking lot of the movie theater, talking nonstop of course, and ending with watching a truly horrible movie they both spent the entire drive back complaining about. Fast forward a couple years, they are living together in their own home, with a roommate or two and their two wonderful dogs, Harper and Gus. They have been on so many trips and journeys together, building memories that will last a lifetime. From South Carolina to Arizona, Las Vegas to Florida, Tennessee to Mexico, all the trips they have taken can’t hold a candle to the trip that’s coming.
Alex and Lexie booked a trip to visit their friends in Portland, OR. What Lexie didn’t know was Alex had just gotten The Ring™️ two days before they flew out and it was burning a hole in his pocket! The Ring was not supposed to show up for another two week at that point. He began putting his plan into motion; with only a two-day notice, he had to think on his feet. Alex recruited the help of a Portland native, our photographer friend we were going to visit, and they began plotting. The plan came together quick, and Alex and Lexie were on their way to the airport quicker. Everything was fine until they got to security. Of course, Alex’s bag had to get searched and it was, of course, the bag with the ring. Alex was trying to subtly tell the guard to hide the ring if he had to pull it out. The guard didn’t care. Instead, the guard gave Alex a nasty look and he thought for sure the surprise was ruined. Alex is getting more nervous with each item leaving the bag. Lexie is getting more impatient and keeps trying to peer around Alex, to which he slyly body blocks, shielding the bag with the ring. Alex tries to get Lexie to go find some snacks, to go use the bathroom, or anything to get her to walk away. The guard finishes up without exposing the ring and the couple is sent on their way to catch their last flight as boyfriend and girlfriend. It is worth mentioning that the guard found no issues within the bag and the search could have been avoided completely. They landed in Portland and went to an art museum, one that Lexie picked out. The museum had a ton of exhibits, including a ball pit. Lexie was having the time of her life, little did she know what was yet to come. Since it was the rainy season in Portland, the trip to the coast had to be flexible. When the day to go to the coast finally arrived, Alex suggested they order room service for breakfast (this should've been Lexie's first clue). On the way, Lexie and Alex stopped at the Tillamook cheese factory which makes some of their favorite cheeses. Lexie was oblivious to what would happen next. They arrived in Astoria, OR and walked down Cannon Beach toward the Goonies Rock. It was a windy day so Lexie had on every layer she could get her hands on. After some time and coaxing from everyone there, she agreed to shed a layer or two for a few pictures. Alex was anxious and he swears his heart was about to jump out of his chest. The moment came and he got down on one knee. The small speech he prepared and that he thought he had memorized went out the window. He stumbled over his words, but Lexie knew what he was asking and she said yes. After the proposal and the few pictures were taken, Lexie did throw back on every single layer and thanked those who told her to shed them previously. To finish the trip, they explored Portland with their friends, ate delicious food, hiked on beautiful trails, and had an amazing time.
