We met at Rhodes College MasterSingers, Spring semester 2022. We were still wearing masks, during choir rehearsal. This is important, later on in the story. Alex is the new rehearsal accompanist, and Krystal sings soprano. That semester, Dr. Skoog had selected some challenging pieces from Jennifer Higdon for the concert. Krystal was amazed that one person could play the difficulty of that score, on the piano alone. Krystal just continued to be in awe, but never spoke to Alex. Towards the end of the semester, Dr. Skoog invited Jennifer Higdon to our last choir rehearsal. Krystal didn't want to be released into summer, without at least speaking to Alex. Krystal found his Facebook, and liked a public video of him playing the harpsichord. Alex then sent a friend request, intrigued by this random woman liking his video. Alex had not seen Krystal's face, because of masking choir rehearsals, so he wasn't sure if I was someone from the church or another music gig. Krystal accepted the friend request the same day as the scheduled rehearsal with Jennifer Higdon, and she sent him a message acknowledging it was received. Well wishes were shared, and said "I'll see you this evening at rehearsal." Again, it was a masked rehearsal. It was wonderful to be able to perform in front of the composer, and receive real time feedback. After the rehearsal, Krystal made her way to the piano bench and removed her mask. Alex removed his as well. Small talk was shared, and asking if there are any plans for the summer. The conversation was interrupted, because Jennifer Higdon wanted to speak with Alex. That was Krystal's cue to go home, and get ready for bed. Alex has shared that he wasn't sure if Krystal was flirting, because it was so subtle. *She was flirting :)* He messaged her as soon as he got home, expressing how nice it was to finally chat and see one another in person. We kept chatting. We met for coffee a couple days later, and now we are getting married.
