From Vienna, it is a 4 hour drive by car or 4.5 hours by train. We have loved the journey by train, as it takes you through the Austrian countryside, and on board you'll find surprisingly very good food and Austrian wine and beer. We recommend this route especially for those who want to fly into Vienna and spend a day or two in the city. Should you do that, please do not hesitate to reach out for recommendations. This airport is the closest to the lake. If flying from the US, you will have a connection in Vienna, but the flight from Vienna to Klagenfurt is only 40 minutes. Limited flight options available, we recommend checking directly with Austrian Airlines.
