Our story technically began in the classroom where we shared a mutual friend. We knew the others name, but Alex was off the market at that time so that was the extent of our friendship. Flash forward about a year to February 3, 2019. We had another mutual friend (Kate Dorsten) running for Miss Auburn when his fraternity hosted a Super Bowl party for her campaign. We recognized each other, and sat to watch the game together. As the game ended, I had to go to the library, and Alex decided to tag along. We talked for hours about family and faith, and instantly connected! The next morning he brought me chicken minis on campus, I returned the favor with Hot Chocolate, and we spent the rest of the week getting to know each other and talking every day. Our story moved pretty quickly as we attended his date party together just four days after the Super Bowl. On our first official date, Alex and I went to Hamilton's where he asked me to be his girlfriend the day after Valentines Day on February 15, 2019. We have been attached at the hip ever since, love to spend days at the lake, in the woodshop, or exploring new places and restaurants.
We got engaged on Friday October 4th, 2020. The date began as a birthday scavenger hunt 22nd birthday for Kayla. Each clue contained a poem that hinted to the next scavenger hunt location where another waited. We started with a clue taking us to the table where we shared our first date at Hamilton's restaurant in Auburn, from there we were led to our favorite spot on Auburn's campus where we would hammock on nice days. The third clue led to "The Red Barn" where we had shared birthday dates the year prior. This led us to Lake Martin, hinting at a handmade present by Alex. When we arrived at the lake, we got on the boat and headed to our favorite slough on the water. Alex and his family had cleared the land, and he led us to a beautiful spot with a view of the water, a homemade quilt by his mother, and white roses. It was here where Alex proposed, with a ring box he had made himself! It was the absolute best day. We ended the day surrounded by family, friends, and lots of love
