Travel

Airport, transportation, and lodging information! We've listed information below about public transit options if you need to do this weekend on a tighter budget. However, we do recommend, if able, to rent a car, as it will allow you to enjoy more of what Oregon has to offer. Also, there are NO rideshare options (e.g., Lyft or Uber) in Hood River. There are taxi's available, such as Gorge Taxi: https://gorgetaxi.com/

Flight

Portland International Airport

PDX is the international airport for Portland and about an hour from Hood River, OR (the town our venue is near). There are two methods to get between PDX and Hood River - renting a car or taking a bus. Bus will be cheaper and we have described it below, but the car will be way more convenient (and allow you to see tons of cool tourist attractions while visiting!).

Train

PDX MAX red line to Gateway Transit Center

If you don't want to rent a car, you can do your travel entirely via public transportation. The MAX is $2.50 per person per trip or $5 total depending on duration/travel in one day. Once you get to Gateway Transit Center, you would take a bus to Hood River. We take the MAX light rail system all the time! We've used it to get to the airport and actually chose to live right next to it because it is so convenient!

Train

Columbia Gorge Express

Not a train, but a bus system connecting the public transit system in Portland (the MAX) to Hood River, Oregon. You would take this after taking the MAX red line from the Airport to the Gateway Transit Center stop, where the Columbia Gorge Express (also known as the CAT) picks up passengers. You need to book in advance, so if this is your choice, reserve seats a few days in advance! Also, you can book multiple stops, including stopping at Multnomah Falls (iconic attraction!). You will have to pay to use this service, but once you have paid, you will be able to use the public transit buses in Hood River as well.

Hotel

Hampton Inn & Suites Hood River

1 Nichols Parkway
Hood River, OR 97031

This hotel will not do blocks for that weekend because it is busy. However, they did say that our guests could call and request the "Wedding family and friends discount" to receive 10% off their best price. We are planning on staying here as it is conveniently located on the river walk and next to lots breweries and restaurants in town. It also has a bus stop right next to it, if you are planning on taking public transportation!

UPDATE: The person who managed hotel blocks left the hotel and they are will not book our hotel block until they hire someone new. At this moment, they said the rooms are being booked quickly while they are searching for a replacement. Since these are the cheapest hotel rooms in the area, we advise you book a room now to secure an affordable rate. We hope to have a hotel block here by late October.

We recommend looking into local rentals for cheaper prices! These will get booked quickly, so look soon.

Shuttle

Wedding Day Shuttle from Holiday Inn and Hampton Inn

June 26, 2022 1:45 pm - 10:00 pm

A shuttle will pick people up at the Holiday Inn & Suites at 1:45 pm and The Hampton Inn at 1:50 pm (due to the bridge closure, the transportation company is being conservative and estimating 1.5 hours travel time). Departure from the wedding will be at 10 pm (there will only be one departure time due to the bridge closure) and will drop-off at both hotels. The two hotels are in different areas of Hood River, so you it is possible to try to find other lodging within walking distance of these hotels. You can park at the venue, but cannot leave your vehicle overnight.

For all the days along the way
