The Fruit Loop includes wineries, cideries, fruit farm stands, lavender fields, and berry farms within a short drive from downtown Hood River! I've provided the address to one very popular one above, "The Gorge White House Fruit Stand & Winery." The website link above provides information about all the different farms included in the Fruit Loop.
This is iconic Portland and its on the drive from the airport to the hotel/venue - you can't miss it! You can even walk up to the bridge or, if you're feeling adventurous, hike to the top for some beautiful Columbia River Gorge views. For Summer 2022, you need a permit to drive on Historic Highway 30, which goes right in front of Multnomah Falls. There are also two other easy to see waterfalls within the permit area. The permit is $2 and can only be requested within two weeks of your visit. However, if you are only interested in Multnomah Falls, there is a parking lot that can be accessed off I-84. Multnomah Falls can be busy, so expect to wait for parking - it is worth it though! You can find more information about the permits here: https://www.oregon.gov/odot/waterfall-corridor-permits/Pages/default.aspx
Take the scenic byway from Hood River and drive up Mt. Hood to see the lodge used as the outside image of the hotel in The Shining! While near Mt. Hood, stop at Trillium Lake for a great photo op of Mt. Hood behind a gorgeous lake with a short 1 mile loop around it. Bonus, if you feel like doing something more strenuous, hike up to Mirror Lake! If you would like to take a train ride with scenic views of Mt. Hood, you can find that information here: https://www.mthoodrr.com/
Voodoo doughnut is one of the most eclectic and "Oregon" shops out there. With pink walls, unique donut flavors (cereal on a donut, candy flavored donuts that range from butter fingers to bubble gum, a few hilariously inappropriate donut types you will just have to see to believe), and provocative slogan ("The magic is in the hole!"), you really can't miss this if you have time to visit Portland. There is a location in downtown ("Old town"), but we would advise to avoid this location of Portland. The Davis location is close to many fun Portland neighborhoods, including Hawthorne and Division street shopping areas!
