The David is one of Michelangelo's most famous sculptures created in 1500. His butt was Jojo's favortie part but if you want to see the front, make sure to visit Galleria dell'Accademia while you are there. We highly recommend getting your tickets ahead of time.
Wine windows used to be used during the plague that terrorized Florence. These were closed for a while but reopened during the pandemic and remain open today. There are multiple windows throughout Florence to explore, so keep an eye out for little windows on the walls of buildings or go on a scavenger hunt! Our favorite was Babae where you can enjoy a unique orange wine!
Florence is known for its immaculate jewelry, especially gold. And if you want to browse, the Ponte Vecchio is the place to go. It is in the heart of Florence crossing over the Arno River with tons of jewelry shops along the way with gorgeous views.
Enjoy a short hike up to the top of the hills to the Piazzale Michelangelo to see the most beautiful sunset overlooking the city of Florence. Make sure to give yourself plenty of time to get up there as it does get busy for sunset. You can also take a taxi up.
Italy is also well known for it's leather. Located just outside the Central Market, there are hundreds of leather vendors. ALWAYS NEGOTIATE and you can get an even better price if you pay in euros!
Signorvino Firenze was a great place to do a wine tasting outdoors with perfect views of the Arno River and Ponte Vecchio. They have a wine shop with very knowledgeable sommeliers who recommend wines you would never find in the US. If you have the time, we highly recommend setting up a wine tour out of Florence for the day to go to some actual wineries. A day trip to Siena or Lucca are worth it to see beautiful and classic Italian walled cities.
