Skiing and Snowboarding
Whether you're a seasoned pro or a total beginner, we highly recommend skiing or snowboarding! Alex learned to ski when she was two and required Joe to learn. Luckily, he loves it too! Buy your passes and rental gear in advance for the best deals, and consider taking a lesson.
Snowshoe
If you're not into skiing but want to be outside, there are plenty of trails to snowshoe! The Vail Nordic School also offers guided snowshoe tours.
Ice Skating in Vail Village
The Solaris Plaza Ice Rink, located in the heart of Vail Village, is open daily in winter. Skating sessions are available in the late afternoons and evenings. Get tickets and rent skates at the Deca + Bol restaurant and bowling alley next door to the rink.
Scenic Gondola Ride
If you’re not sure about skiing, a scenic gondola ride still lets you experience all the views! Head up Vail Mountain via Gondola One from Vail Village or the Eagle Bahn Gondola from Lionshead Village. Purchase a ticket online ($82) and add a food voucher if you want to eat at the top of the mountain at Mid-Vail or Eagle's Nest.
