Palma de Mallorca (PMI) Airport

Mallorca's only international airport is PMI and can be reached by most airports throughout Europe and directly from the US through Newark (EWR). We would recommend either flying directly into Palma, or booking a flight into a major European hub and then a separate hopper flight to Palma. Just make sure you give yourself enough time to recheck your bags if you do the latter. Vueling, RyanAir, EasyJet, and Air Europa are four of the easiest budget airlines, but you will have to pay for separate luggage. All of the major airlines fly in as well.

Transfer to Hotels

PMI airport is located about 20 minutes from downtown Palma and 45 minutes from Calvià, where the wedding will be held. Depending on where you're staying and how much you want to explore the island, we recommend using taxis or rental cars. Rental cars are generally a very budget-friendly option if you're comfortable driving yourself and want to explore in your free time. Taxis are easy and safe. Just head out from luggage claim past the moving walkway, and you'll see them lined up on your left. Uber and Lyft are extremely limited across the island, so we suggest using the local taxi services.

Hotel Recommendations

There are so many gorgeous places to stay in Mallorca! Based on your budget and preferences, we will add a few options we recommend as we get closer to the date. If you want to look on your own, we recommend staying in one of these areas: Downtown Palma - Be right in the action with everything within walking distance Palmanova - Laid-back area with amazing beaches with just enough to do to keep you busy. Santa Ponça - Family-friendly area right on gorgeous sand beaches with calm water and lots of food nearby. Big Irish community. Magaluf - Great nightlife, nice beach and lots of restaurants in walking distance. Might get rowdy at night. Big British community. Paguera - Very quiet beach town with a promenade and a big German community. Downtown Palma is about 30 minutes, the rest are 15-20 minutes from our wedding venue, and right on the beach. All have lots going on and plenty of taxis available for all your adventures.

Transfer to Events

The easiest way to get to our wedding venue and pre-wedding celebrations is the same way you got to your hotel. If via rental car, we have plenty of parking on-site. Just turn left when you see the front gate and park anywhere in the lot. Taxis are also readily available all weekend, and we can gladly help you call one at the end of each night. Please note, the wedding venue is at the end of a dirt road in the outskirts of the local town. Just be aware that it may be a little bumpy for about two minutes before you arrive at the front gate.

Communication & Currency

Communication: Mallorca is an island in Spain and its official languages are Spanish (Castillian) and Catalan. Due to its gorgeous weather, it has also become extremely international with a huge population of Germans and Brits. You will likely hear lots of German and English while you're here. However, out of respect for the locals, it would be great to learn a few key phrases in Spanish, as we don't expect everyone to speak English. Try them out and let us know how it goes! Buenos Días! - Good morning! Gracias! - Thank you! Disculpe, habla inglés? - Excuse me, do you speak English? Como puedo llegar a...? - How do I get to...? Dónde está el baño? - Where is the bathroom? Nos puede llevar a...? - Can you please take us to..? (For Taxis) Dos cervezas, por favor! - You know this one ;) Currency: As part of Spain, Mallorca uses the Euro exclusively. The island is very modern, and Apple Pay/ Contactless payments are widely accepted. However, American Express often carries higher processing fees, so most businesses will not accept it. Visa and MasterCard are accepted everywhere. We recommend carrying a small amount of cash for tips and in case you encounter a local vendor who doesn’t take cards while you’re exploring. Tipping: Tipping in Europe is not required, but always appreciated. Servers make a living wage, so they don't expect an exact percentage as they do in the States. However, we highly recommend leaving a little something anytime you sit and are served. For coffee or a drink, €1 or €2 is generally enough to show your appreciation. For a meal, we would recommend rounding up. For example, if your meal was €26, you can ask them to round up to €30.
