Alex and I met on a dating app. I immediately liked him based on his profile and our short conversations but didn't take anything too seriously at first - he told me in one of our first conversations that he planned to move to Houston to be in AmeriCorps. For our first date, we agreed to meet at a Thai food truck. It was summer in Austin, probably around 100 degrees, and we decided to eat outdoors due to Covid still wreaking havoc. I was so nervous getting ready that I ended up being 30 minutes late. I ran to the food truck, dripping in sweat, where Alex was waiting patiently. As soon as he got out of his jeep, I was taken aback by how handsome he was in real life. We ate dinner, went on a meandering walk through the neighborhood, stopped for a drink at my favorite place, and talked the night away. After we said goodnight, I walked home with a big grin on my face unaware that I had just met the person I was going to marry one day.
