The Dads have it! After a friendship spanning over 15 years, Mr. Kim and Pastor Bak came upon a wonderful idea to have us meet. After what seemed like months of persuasion on both sides, Esther flew to see Alex in Philadelphia for a dinner that initially felt more like a job interview (everybody wore suits)! As we dated for the next couple of days, we were cautiously optimistic that there could be something there. The more we learned about each other, the more comfortable we grew with the idea of a future together. A month later, Alex flew to San Diego for a short trip to meet the rest of the Bak family and to spend some more time together. We explored the city and had some one on one time before going back to our respective cities. We officially became a couple at the end of that trip!
Esther's POV: We had been planning a trip to Seoul for Christmas to see my family, to explore Korea and most importantly, to get marriage blessings. We agreed to wait until after Korea to get engaged, so imagine my surprise when at the end of an Annual Liberty Award Dinner in D.C. I am being pulled up to the stage in front of diplomats, ambassadors and officials alike for him to get on one knee! I instantly regretted having eaten 7 servings of chocolate mousse for dessert. I have little recollection of what was going on in that moment (my mind may have blacked out) but Alex was kind enough to provide me with a play by play and has since followed through on his promise to make me the happiest woman every single day. Alex's POV: helluva night i proposed and she said yes
