We first met in high school through theater, but we didn’t really know each other then. It wasn’t until college that everything changed. After a lunch that brought us together through mutual friends , we started spending more and more time together. We realized quickly how much we had in common. What started as an easy friendship turned into doing almost everything side by side, studying, working, taking classes together, and hanging out nearly every day. Through undergrad, graduate school, and the beginning of adulthood, we stayed close. We supported each other through life’s ups and downs and became best friends without even realizing what we were building. Everyone around us often joked that it was only a matter of time before we ended up together. Eventually, during one ordinary day, we finally said what had been quietly true for a long time and it was the best decision we ever made. Second to adopting Georgie of course.
