Alex and Darnell first met back in November of 2014 through Darnell's brother, Harlan. They hung out in the same crowd for a few months and attended the same New Years Eve party that year. Come midnight, they were each others New Years Kiss. After New Years Eve, they started to talk and hangout a lot. Darnell officially asked Alex to be his girlfriend on January 25, 2015 in which Alex's response was "only if you're not a psycho". Our favorite thing to do together was going on days trips and explore service roads and lakes. After nearly 2 years of being together, Darnell and Alex decided to move into together in December of 2016. They moved into a small 1 bedroom basement suite in North Delta. Alex and Darnell were talking about starting their own family soon, so in February of 2019, they decided to move into a larger 2 bedroom suite just down the street from Alex's parents. November of 2019, Darnell and Alex found out that they were expecting their first baby! Ava Jane Alyssa Holmes was born 10 days late on July 29, 2020 @ 8:42pm. They are beyond excited to start this next adventure of their lives together!

In 2019, Darnell was planning to propose to Alex for quite a while. But first, he had to gain the courage to ask Alex's dad for her hand in marriage and buy a ring. Late 2019, Darnell finally gain the confidence and stopped by Alex's parents house one day on his way home from work and had told her dad that he was planning on proposing to Alex on her birthday. Alex's dad, being a jokester, responding with "How dare you show up at my house in your dirty work clothes and ask for my daughters hand in marriage. Now go home, put on a suit and bring a bottle of whiskey!" Of course, he was only kidding! On January 4, 2020, Darnell had planned a dinner out at Joey's restaurant in Coquitlam with his brothers and sister in law. Alex almost ruined the whole plan by not wanting to go anywhere due to severe morning sickness. She eventually gave in, as she felt bad, as Darnell seemed to really want to go. Half way during dinner Darnell got down on one knee and asked Alex to marry him! She was overjoyed and thought "About damn time!"
