Stephen King's famous house in Bangor; we stopped once on our way to camp so that we could feel like real Mainers. They're also a great non-profit that supports local community orgs. Don't forget to see the giant Paul Bunyan statue just down the street!
It's literally just a giant statue of Paul Bunyan, but it has a really interesting history and ties to Bangor's origins as a logging town! Also it inspired the murderous statue in "IT" by Stephen King. What more could you want in a roadside attraction?
