A staple of the Eugene area for decades. Every Saturday, rain or shine, between April and Thanksgiving, approximately 150 vendors display their handmade or home-grown products in a park in downtown Eugene, Oregon, The sellers arrive early in the morning and set up their own individual booths. Buyers start to come around 10 AM, and from then on throughout the day the Market is alive with activity: browsing, buying, selling, trading, exchanging information, meeting friends, eating lunch, listening to and playing music. All these and more activities are going on simultaneously. Children and older people alike enjoy the selling and visiting at the Market. There is a true mixture of ages, incomes and lifestyles meeting with ease and pleasure.
The former home of First Christian Church, Public House is an incredibly unique space that has been reimagined as one of the more fun and accomodating places in the area to wine and dine. For years, it has been a go-to spot for us and is a super fun hub for food vendors, a beer hall, a whiskey bar and an outdoor area for live entertainment — continuing to be a family-friendly place to gather.
Eugene is fortunate to have many great wineries around - King Estate (!!!), Sylvan Ridge, and Sarver, just to name a few - but Sweet Cheeks tends to be the go-to for enjoying some good wine at a decent price while enjoying a beautiful setting.
Spencer Butte is a regional landmark, and its summit, at 2,058 feet, is the highest point along Eugene’s 2,100-acre Ridgeline Park system. It has been a popular destination for generations of hikers. In recent years, as many as 300 visitors per day make the trek to the summit to enjoy unobstructed views of the city and valleys below.
We both graduated from here. Alex works here. Sure, we may be biased, but we think the U of O is pretty great, and it's certainly a beautiful campus to take in.
One of the more intimate ways to see incredible birds of prey. Cascades Raptor Center sees more than 30,000 visitors and treats 400-700 wild patients in its hospital every year. The center now has over 30 resident birds and purchased an adjacent property in 2016, with plans in place to expand public operations onto this side in the future.
