We have known each other since the beginning. When Amber was a young girl (and still to this day), she was the best friend to Krystin Davoren, Alex's cousin. Amber's mom, Dawn, remembers when Alex was brought over to meet Krystin in his baby carrier. Throughout the years, Amber and Alex saw each other sporadically at various birthday parties, but didn't connect fully until 2018.
We reconnected in 2018 when we were both key figures in Krystin's wedding to Kyle Davoren: Amber was the Maid of Honor and Alex was the Best Man. Both Amber and Alex would jump at the opportunity of working together with Krystin to help plan the wedding or invite others to join the wedding party (i.e., Calie, Amber's sister). By working together to help make this big day happen, both Amber and Alex were able to look past their childhood memories and reconnect as adults. When both Krystin and Kyle noticed that there was a spark between Amber and Alex, they took them on a handful of supervised dates, but mainly it was Krystin taking them to the Denver Zoo. Amber and Alex had their real first date, un-chaperoned (what madness), in September of 2018. In the years Amber and Alex have been together, they have faced many moments of joy and many of pain/turmoil. However, their bond has only strengthened through these moments.
Alex has the strangest timing with important moments. The first time Alex said "I love you" to Amber was in the middle of the seasonal aisle at King Soopers. Amber had just finished her hangry rant and was telling him that she was going to go home and eat leftovers. Alex, with a small smile on his face, looked at Amber and said "I love you." Amber looked at Alex like he was crazy and said "I love you too." Fast forward to the proposal planning. Alex and Amber were spending time with Amber's family when Alex told Calie that he was going to ask Amber to marry him. A few weeks later, Alex went to the laundry mat while Amber was working. Once he was done with the laundry, Alex went over to Dawn and Eric's to spend some time with Dawn, at least that is what he told Amber he was doing. Alex was actually over there to ask for Dawn and Eric's approval to marry Amber. They both said yes. Alex's next mission was to pick out the ring. Alex was meeting up with his dad Joel at the jewelry store. Alex got there before Joel and had picked out six rings that he liked for Amber. Once Joel got there, they discussed the rings and Alex remember that Amber had not so subtly sent him rings that she liked. One of the six rings that Alex had picked out was a match to one of the rings that Amber had sent Alex. That ring was the clear winner. Alex finalized the purchase and rushed home excited to plan the weekend and pick the perfect time to propose. March 13th: Amber was having a rough asthma day and had clocked out early from work not feeling well. Amber was in bed resting, taking a breathing treatment before they went to sleep, when Alex says out loud "I just can't wait any longer" reached into his backpack and pulled out the ring. He came over to Amber's side of the bed and asked "can I keep you forever". Amber was confused and startled at first and finally worked the question " will you marry me?" out of Alex. Amber said YES!
