Alexa went to visit her best friend and maid of honor, Audrey at the University of Arkansas in the summer of 2017 while Jack was living with her boyfriend (now husband and best man), Lucas. Unfortunately, Jack was not available at the time. That didn't stop Alexa from catching feelings. After a night out on Dickson and lots of football talk, Alexa thought her crush would be safe with Audrey... why did she think that would stay a secret?
Flash forward to winter of 2018 and a breakup later, Jack was single and ready to mingle while Alexa was living in rural Montana working as a travel OT. That little secret found a way to make it back to Jack and Alexa's cards were all out on the table. Jack slid into Alexa's DMs and he managed to get her to agree to go skiing with him in tow up in Billings. Their first date was a 4 day long trip which involved 2 days of skiing and NYE in small town Miles City in below negative wind chill. Luckily they liked each other and the trip wasn't cut short. Skiing is now their favorite type of vacation and will forever hold a special place in their hearts.
Skiing was a great first date, and it made for a great way to propose! And what a better way to do it then include the people that set them up in the first place. Jack reached out to Audrey and got the ball rolling to plan a trip. The trip was set for Breckenridge, Colorado and Jack's plan to get to the top of the mountain was foiled when Alexa was too freaked out to try a black diamond run. He did manage to get her across the mountain (barely) and do the dang thing! His infamous proposal words.. "here you go." Alexa's years of watching Bachelor proposals did not set her up well for this!
Omaha is Alexa's hometown. Not many people think or want to travel to Nebraska, so the couple hopes you are able to come celebrate them and take away a great experience! P.S. Please check out the "Things to Do" tab!
The couple will be waiting until Jacks residency schedule slows down and will likely push off the honeymoon until 2025. They hope to go to Switzerland, Austria, or Norway! Recommendations welcome!!
We would love to have all the little ones on the dance floor with us but the space just isn't big enough. They are welcome at the ceremony and we will have a babysitter (or several depending on the number of children) on-site at the hotel during the reception so you are able to have fun and know they are safe and sound only a few floors beneath the party... our treat! Please let Alexa know if you are interested in using a babysitter.
You do not need to rent a car. Hotel/reception venue, ceremony site, welcome party, and the airport are all within 15 minutes of each other and Ubers will be easy to get throughout the weekend. The preferred hotel has valet parking only, however there are several spots to park around Blackstone that offer free parking, it just might be a few blocks to walk. Please see the travel tab for a map of the Blackstone with available parking.
