Lucca is perfectly situated in Tuscany to enjoy all of the best parts of the region. Just a few ideas below, but there's definitely something for everyone!

Very easy to get to for a day trip, by car, train or bus.

Florence

Read the travel recommendations closely on which towns to visit and how to get around between towns, but this is another great day trip from Lucca.

Cinque Terre

This is a special city in Tuscany and worth a day visit, or an overnight if you have the time!

Siena

Pisa is within 30 minutes from Lucca and may be a place you visit for a half day or a day, especially if you are flying in here.

Montecatini Terme is a famous spa town set in the beautiful region of Tuscany, Italy. Montecatini Terme and is known for its ‘healing’ thermal waters. It is easily accessible by train, about 45 mins away.

There are a number of beach towns on the edge of Tuscany about 30 mins from Lucca, with beach clubs where you can rent space for the day, restaurants, shopping, etc.
