We met at an iHop on September 13, 2015. Andy had just moved to Astoria with his brother, Christopher, and I (Ali) had known Peter through a mutual friend. I was invited to join their causal Sunday night iHop dinner, Andy sat across from me, and over a plate of chicken and waffles, the rest is history. I would come to Astoria just hoping to see Andy and, one night, gave Andy my number. A few texts about his dog Buddy and my dog Calum went a long way and we decided to make it official on October 28, 2015.
Andy and I were on a vacation with his family in Watersound Beach, Florida. After 4 1/2 years together, I felt the proposal coming (the weird questions, the anxiousness, the curiosity of when I would get my hair done, and if you know Andy, he never asks questions like that). The day I thought he would propose rained terribly and when I couldn't take the suspense anymore and asked him if he was going to propose to me, he told me not to expect anything and that this was not our time. I pushed the idea of getting engaged out of my mind and we spent the next day deep-sea fishing and after being covered in the ocean and exhausted from the sun, he brought me up to the tower to have a glass of champagne. Just as he was about to get down on one knee, Rosie (his fur-sister) decided to walk down the roof of the house and was hanging there. After everyone saved Rosie's life, a proposal was the last thing on my mind. Andy then used the element of surprise to pop the question, I cried, and it's all on tape!
