Our story started in 2018, thanks to two close friends who introduced us after they started dating. We quickly became friends, but it wasn't until a few months later that we became more. Our first date was on Valentine’s Day, and by the following month, we were officially together. Not long after, we both ended up in South Dakota for school, where life revolved around classes, dive meets, and baseball games. Covid brought us and our families even closer, and Andrew's love for cards began. After playing pitch every night, my family knew he was a keeper. After college, I moved to Minnesota while Andrew finished school in South Dakota. We spent the year going back and forth as much as we could, until Andrew eventually moved to Minnesota too. Today, we still enjoy sporting events, cards, dinners out, traveling, and time with our friends and family. We are so excited for the next chapter of our lives.
On May 17th, Andrew proposed! About a year before the proposal, we took a spontaneous day trip to Wisconsin. We started with a beautiful hike that led to an overlook above the river, grabbed pie at a small shop, and ended the day at a winery that quickly became a favorite. A year later, my dad came to visit and mentioned he wanted to see the winery we loved. Little did I know, this was all part of Andrew’s plan. Before heading there, Andrew suggested we revisit the same hike, a perfect excuse since my dad loves hiking. So Andrew, my dad, my sister, and I set off, of course teasing me along the way to keep me from getting suspicious. Once we got to the top of the trail, we took our pictures and my dad and my sister began walking ahead. I started to follow when Andrew stopped me and got down on one knee! After an obvious yes, we all celebrated at the overlook and enjoyed the moment. But the surprises weren’t over yet. We headed to the winery as planned, but when we arrived my mom and Andrew’s parents were waiting with the room decorated and ready to celebrate. The rest of the night was spent celebrating, laughing, and hopping between our favorite small-town spots. It was the perfect day.
