We met in late September 2012 in Sacramento, CA while both attending Sacramento State (Go Hornets!). Olivia transferred from Monterey Peninsula College and was working toward her degree in Social Work. Alejandro transferred from Fullerton College to play linebacker for the Sac State Football team and received his degree in Construction Management. Both of us were involved in Greek life which is what ultimately brought us together. While participating in Olivia's sorority's philanthropy swimming event, Alejandro walked through the gate of the swimming pool area and Olivia's eyes were set on him. After initially meeting each other (and Olivia's first love, Roscoe the dachshund), we continued to see each other at the swimming practice. On October 19, 2013, Olivia made a bold move and asked Alejandro for his phone number. That weekend, Alejandro was traveling back to Sacramento from visiting his family in Anaheim. Olivia offered to pick him up from the airport and to say thank you, Alejandro took her to In-N-Out Burger. From there, we enjoyed a first date at the shooting range and mini golf, going to Giants games, exploring Sacramento and wine tasting (to name a few). Alejandro officially asked Olivia to be his girlfriend February 19, 2012. Fast forward to 2014, Olivia graduated and moved back home to Monterey for an exciting employment opportunity. Alejandro remained in Sacramento for two more years finishing up his degree. With the three hour drive between Monterey and Sacramento, we would try to see one another monthly. New Years was spent in Anaheim and celebrated at Disneyland. In 2016, Alejandro graduated and moved back home to Anaheim to work with the great company he is currently with. This now doubled that three hour drive and the distance turned into six hours. Both of us were putting our degrees to use, working in our respective fields. We continued to do our best to see each other at least every 6 week or so. Thankful for technology, we could video chat in between visits. Fast forward again to 2019, Olivia made the decision to relocate to Orange, CA for a job opportunity and to be closer to Alejandro. We were able to continue to build on our relationship and try to make up for being long distance for three and a half years. In September 2021, after a full year of searching, we closed on our first home together in Whittier, CA where we are to this day. In September 2022, we added a second wiener dog to the family, Jackson. On February 16, 2023, Alejandro proposed to Olivia in our home accompanied by a video message and photos from the decade of our relationship. We celebrated our engagement in Valle De Guadalupe, Mexico. Needless to say, good things are worth waiting for. The weekend of our wedding has much significance for us; it will mark our 11th year as a couple and 1 year from the day we got engaged.
