The elevation is around 8,200' above sea level. The best way to combat negative altitude effects is to stay hydrated and get as much sleep as possible. Before even arriving to Colorado, we recommend the days leading up to your departure you eat and hydrate properly. If anyone has any bad reactions, there are also EMTs on site at the hotel to help administer medical-grade and high levels of oxygen to anyone who may need extra care. Weddings take place here all the time with guests traveling from sea level locations. We have been assured that adverse effects are much less common than the majority of guests being just fine. Just drink lots of water and with every alcoholic drink, we recommend a glass of water in between! DRINK THOSE ELECTROLYTES!
You are by no means OBLIGATED to wear Indian clothes to the sangeet (Friday) or wedding ceremony (Saturday), but we do highly suggest you at least wear Indian-inspired clothes. We do hope to see as many of you as possible in Indian clothes during these events! Here is a Pinterest board to help visualize, as well as some links to great places to buy Indian clothes or rent! (important note for the ladies- Sarees would be only best at wedding ceremony- but we suggest to better look into Lenghas, Salwaar Kameeze, and Anarkali's as you can move and dance in these styles better) See pinterest board: https://pin.it/5IID97wLN Links to shopping and rentals for both men and women below: Kalki Fashion - www.kalkifashion.com/ Utsav Fashion - www.utsavfashion.com/ Aza Fashion - www.azafashions.com/ The Saree Room - www.thesareeroom.com/ Pernias Pop-Up - www.perniaspopupshop.com/ Ensemble- https://www.ensembleindia.com/ Kynah- https://shopkynah.com/ Lashkaraa- https://www.lashkaraa.com Borrow the Bazaar - borrowthebazaar.com/ Boomie Rental App- https://apps.apple.com/us/app/boomie-rent/id6476128095 (Use code SERENAALEC for 10% off your Boomie rental)
For the morning wedding ceremony we encourage Indian attire again. We’d love to see vibrant, festive attire—think colorful dresses, sarees, lehengas, or elegant suits and sherwanis. Traditional Indian clothing is welcome, but not required—feel free to choose something celebratory and comfortable for you. Avoid wearing red, white or black. See below for the black tie wedding reception attire in the evening: For the Gents: tuxes with bow ties For the ladies: Minimally a midi level dress below the knees; full length gowns / dresses are encouraged Here are some pinterest boards to help. It means whatever you feel is a good representation of Western Style- Think denim, fringe, suede, cowboy boots, leather, cowboy hats, fun belts and accessories. If you need more help, here is a Pinterest board we made to give you a better idea. See Pinterest Board for inspo: https://pin.it/2xRinUR51 Please note, the party is outside and there's grass, so we suggest wearing comfortable shoes like cowboy boots, platforms, flats, or dressy sneakers. Ladies- heels aren't necessary!!
Unless otherwise discussed with the bride and groom, our celebrations will be adults-only. If you need to travel with your children and require babysitting services, the hotel concierge can assist, as there are many reputable providers in the area. If you have any questions, please reach out to Serena and/or Alec directly.
Uber and Lyft do operate in the Beaver Creek / Vail Valley area, but they can be less reliable than in a big city. Because this is a smaller mountain community, drivers may be sparse in more remote or uphill areas. If you plan to rely on ride-shares, here are a few tips: - Request your ride well in advance rather than last minute, especially in the evening or during special events. Give yourself at least 15-20 minutes for your ride to arrive. - Be prepared for longer wait times or potentially higher surge pricing. - In busy zones (e.g. Beaver Creek Village, Avon) ride options are likelier to appear faster than farther up the mountain. - As a backup, taxis / local shuttle services are more dependable in this region. - The Ritz can easily call a taxi for you. - The Ritz also has a house car which guests can use after 3PM if available- which can take you anywhere in Vail or Beaver Creek Complimentary Shuttle at The Ritz: - The Ritz-Carlton, Bachelor Gulch provides a free shuttle service to Beaver Creek Village (where shopping, dining, the skating rink, Vilar Performing Arts Center, etc., are located) as well as to Arrowhead Village. - The resort’s “Village Connect” network runs inter-resort shuttles within Beaver Creek & Bachelor Gulch. These follow fixed routes and usually arrive every 15–20 minutes during the day. Download the Village Connect app and if you have any questions you can ask the concierge about this when you check in. Rent a car: - You can also rent a car at both DIA and Eagle airports. Alec and Serena love renting cars by using the app "Turo." - It is definitely nice to have a car in Colorado, but make sure to drive safe as we'll be in the mountains. - For our welcome party we will provide transportation during a certain time-frame and all Fri-Sat events will be on site at The Ritz, so renting a car is not needed unless you prefer to have one!
- Colorado can be very dry and you’ll notice your skin and throat feeling dry and your nose being congested at night. We recommend hydrating throughout the day, moisturizing your skin and sipping on warm drinks to soothe your throat. - Each room also has a humidifier which we suggest turning on at night. - We also love to use the Ritz spa amenities (available to all guests- regardless if you have a spa appt or not) which includes the cold plunge, jacuzzi, steam and sauna. - We have a hospitality room on the first floor of the Ritz which will be stocked with essentials like bandaids, snacks, water and more.
