East Village is one of SJ and Alec's favorite neighborhoods. Grab a coffee at their favorite study spot and walk to the local shops!

Scenic Route Bakery

Featured in some of Alec & Sami's engagement photos this 4-Floor Antique shop is one of their favorite places to explore on Sunday Mornings. Another great place to grab a coffee and explore.

West End Architectural Salvage

A cherished Des Moines stop for brews and food. Alec and Sami used to live 2 blocks away! Highly reccomend the truffle fries and a Lemon Trail.

Exile Brewing Company

Des Moines is luck to have a free Art Museum! Make an appointment online and see beautiful art and architecture. Sami and Alec went on a Valentine's Date here 3 years ago and have loved it ever since.

Des Moines Art Center

Alec and some of our close friends used to serve here! Try the Daydreaming of Flora Martini, Espresso Martini, and the Spinach Artichoke Dip! The Tuna Tar-Tar is Alec's go-to.

The Stuffed Olive Des Moines

Our favorite downtown sushi spot! We've been going here for 5 years and have never been dissapointed.

W-Tao Sushi

You can be like Alec and wake up for an early morning walk around the lake, or like SJ and find a picnic bench to munch at. Grey's Lake is a great outdoor space close to downtown!

Gray's Lake Park

A walk or drive around the Sculpture Park is a MUST for downtown Des Moines. Alec and Sami used to frequent the park when they lived down the street.

Pappajohn Sculpture Park

The ultimate local lunch spot, and a grocery store! We adore their Mac N Cheese, Burgers, and Chicken Bacon Paninis.

Gateway Market Cafe

Another martini bar, but are we surprised? Alec and Sami said "I love you" for the first time at this local stop. Great art and occasionally live music!
