During late Spring of 2016, Katie was moving into a new apartment and enlisted the help of her brother, Matt, who brought along some of his personal trainer co-workers. A few boxes of linens and several plates later, Katie's eyes meet Alec's for the first time from behind her embarrassingly grimy Tempur-Pedic mattress. Once the moving job was done and everyone had time to hang out over pizza and jokes, Katie decided she had to get to know Alec better. The feeling didn't become mutual until a few months later, however, when the two rekindled over the dating app we all know and love as Bumble. Over the course of several emoji-filled conversations, Alec and Katie quickly established a friendship over shared interests, including their love of horror movies (years into their relationship, Katie admitted to Alec that she created a Bumble only because she heard Alec was using it, and Alec confessed to Katie that he only pretended to like scary movies so that he could craft a first date out of it). As their first official date, Alec had Katie over for a spooky-movie marathon and one of the best home-cooked steaks she had ever had. Sitting uncomfortably through The Exorcist, Alec was perhaps at his most scared of the night when he went to put his arm around Katie's shoulder. But that smooth move led to more memorable dates as the couple got to know each other. Soon they would be parked at the drive-in theatre, feeding the ducks in Piedmont Park, and running through the daffodils at Gibbs Gardens, where Alec asked Katie to be his girlfriend. Since then, the two have established a mutual love and fascination for many things beyond scary movies, as well as for one another. From spa nights at home to Solar Eclipse skydiving, the two have found in each other the perfect balance of ease and excitement that has become the foundation of their relationship. Alec and Katie are thrilled to enter this new chapter of their lives, and are so grateful to have you there with them!
