One of the most iconic spots in all of Colorado, Red Rocks is a must-see. Towering sandstone formations frame a natural outdoor amphitheatre with views of Denver that will stop you in your tracks. Even if there’s no show during your visit, the park itself is stunning to explore, with hiking trails winding through the red rock landscape. Just a heads up: January in Colorado means it could be chilly (or snowy!) out there, so layer up and wear sturdy shoes. The views are absolutely worth it.
Denver’s most beloved park, and a very special place for Hannah and Alec. Take a stroll around the lake, enjoy the wide open paths, and keep your eyes peeled… somewhere in this park, Alec got down on one knee. We’ll let you find the spot. Bundle up in January but don’t let the cold stop you. Wash Park is beautiful year-round, and especially magical in the crisp winter air.
World-class art in the heart of the city. The Denver Art Museum is as stunning on the outside as it is on the inside, with a bold architectural design and an incredible collection spanning everything from Indigenous art to modern masters. A perfect indoor escape if the January weather has other plans.
The beating heart of downtown Denver. Union Station is equal parts transit hub, gathering place, and neighborhood gem, with some of the city’s best restaurants, bars, and coffee shops all under one beautifully restored roof. Grab a drink at the Terminal Bar, browse the boutique shops, or just soak in the atmosphere. A great spot to wander on a January afternoon without braving too much cold.
A cozy, beloved neighborhood fixture on South Pearl Street. Stella’s is the kind of coffee shop that feels like a living room, worn-in and warm, with great coffee and even better people-watching. The perfect place to start a slow morning or hide from the January chill with a good drink and good company.
A fantastic way to spend a few hours, especially when it’s cold outside. The Denver Museum of Nature and Science has something for everyone, from dinosaur fossils and space exhibits to an IMAX theater and planetarium shows. A great option for families or anyone who wants to geek out a little.
Our favorite sandwich spot in Denver, and lucky for you, it’s right next to the ART Hotel! Leven serves up seriously good deli food with a creative, Colorado twist. Whether you’re grabbing a quick lunch or fueling up before a day of exploring, this place never disappoints. Go hungry.
Hard to describe, impossible to forget. Meow Wolf is an immersive art experience unlike anything you’ve ever walked into. Expect otherworldly rooms, hidden passages, interactive art, and a storyline you can follow as deep as you want to go. It’s weird, it’s wonderful, and it’s one of the most unique things Denver has to offer. A great indoor adventure for a January day.
Just 45 minutes from Denver, Boulder is absolutely worth a day trip. Walk the iconic Pearl Street Mall, browse local shops and restaurants, and take in the dramatic Flatiron mountains looming right over the city. In January, Boulder can be snowy and picture-perfect. Dress warm and enjoy every bit of it.
Alec and Hannah’s favorite Colorado town, and once you visit, you’ll understand why. Golden is a charming, walkable little city right along Clear Creek, with great breweries, locally loved restaurants, and stunning mountain views just 30 minutes from Denver. In January it often gets a dusting of snow that makes the whole place feel like a postcard.
If you’re coming to Colorado in January, you have to hit the slopes. Arapahoe Basin, known lovingly as “A-Basin,” is one of Colorado’s most iconic ski areas, sitting at over 13,000 feet and known for its challenging terrain and laid-back vibe. Whether you’re a seasoned skier or a first-timer, this is a bucket-list Colorado experience. January is prime ski season, so conditions should be excellent.
