Like all good love stories, Alec and Amanda's began at the gym. They met in the summer of 2021 at an early morning class at Shed Fitness in East Nashville. Alec was immediately smitten by Amanda, so naturally he did what every guy with a gym crush does... tried to impress her. Using his shirt, he wiped the sweat from his face "accidentally" showing a little skin while next to her on the treadmill. Her response: "Can you NOT do that??" Clearly Amanda wasn't having it. This shouldn't bee too surprising as anyone who knows Alec remembers this time as his Joe Dirt mullet phase. But nevertheless he persisted. A few weeks passed and Alec decided to ask Amanda to a concert to which he was met with more or less a "no thank you." But that no would only serve to allow them the time and space to grow into the people they needed to be for each other. Despite the semi-awkward rejection, Alec kept his chin high, and over the next couple of years, the two became friends. Both developed a fondness for the other rooted in a mutual respect and admiration and bonded over their love for the artist Patrick Droney. Most importantly, Alec cut his hair. "I always loved him, but just in different kind of way," recalls Amanda. (Translation: Alec was so hopelessly lost in the friend zone that only ignorance and naivety could save him.) The two felt out of touch for almost a year until the fall of 2024 when the frequency of Alec's replies on Amanda's Instagram stories started increasing. "We should get together soon," lobbed Alec. "Yeah we should!" replied Amanda (Translation: "We should not.") Then, the craziest thing happened... Not one, not two, but three times in the span of a few days, Alec and Amanda ran into each other walking their dogs. Alec saw his opportunity and swung for the fences. On a whim one Friday, Alec shot Amanda a text, "What are you up to tonight? Let's walk the dogs to Village Pub and catch up." Home run. Alec will tell you that his intention was to genuinely hang out with her "as a friend"... but we all know the truth. The rest, as they say, was history. The two learned they lived only blocks from each other. They shared what God had been doing in their lives over the last few years and began laying the foundations of a relationship and future marriage, still rooted in the same respect and admiration they have always one another. But the love that they have? Well that part has grown and changed for the better indeed. And that part is what they cannot wait to celebrate with you.
